As a Supply Chain Principal, you will be responsible for the day-to-day procurement of materials and subcontract services, acting as a first-level escalation point to ensure requirements related to cost, quality, delivery, and export control are competitively achieved.
Core Duties:
- Undertake line management responsibilities, deputise for the Procurement Manager, support KPI delivery, and act as the first port of call for escalations within the Supply Chain team.
- Support and/or prepare outputs and deliverables, and select suppliers in line with departmental procedures and systems.
- Support and/or negotiate all commercial, financial, quality, and schedule elements of contracts and any authorised changes, including export control requirements.
- Support and deliver effective supplier development for suppliers requiring action.
- Identify and implement cost savings, manage risks and opportunities, and develop and implement mitigation plans.
- Act as the primary point of contact with assigned suppliers and customers (internal/external).
The Warship Support Maritime Services Supply Chain Team:
Working within the Warship Support Maritime Services Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for delivering procurement and supply chain activities for a defined area. This includes supporting the development of procurement and supply chain strategies & plans, and engaging and managing suppliers, projects, and other stakeholders to achieve project/business objectives. You will also be responsible for the management, coaching, mentoring, and development of subordinate team members to drive performance.
Essential Skills:
- Experience working in a Procurement / Supply Chain department.
- Line management experience.
- Commercial and contractual acumen, with MCIPS (awarded or working towards) or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent supplier relationship management and stakeholder management experience.
Location & Working Arrangements:
This role is based at Portsmouth Naval Base on-site. BAE Systems offers a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, which will be discussed during the recruitment process.
