About the Role: Supportability Engineer
As a Supportability Engineer at BAE Systems in Brough, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the reliability, maintainability, and supportability of our defence programmes. You will apply your expertise and fleet knowledge to influence both current and future designs, ensuring our solutions are robust and sustainable throughout their lifecycle.
This position involves contributing to advanced design-for-support strategies, clearly defining essential support requirements, and meticulously generating and managing supportability outputs. You will operate across both the development and in-service phases, adhering strictly to recognised engineering standards and best practices.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct engineering assessments and apply core supportability principles.
- Provide expert advice to various teams on supportability and maintainability considerations.
- Analyze design and in-service data to effectively inform support strategies.
- Produce comprehensive supportability outputs in accordance with international standards.
- Ensure design changes are managed and assess their impact on existing support solutions.
- Evaluate safety requirements and their implications for support systems.
What We're Looking For:
- HNC/Degree in Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautics Engineering or equivalent experience in a supportability/maintainability role.
- Knowledge of reliability and supportability tools such as LORA, FMECA, LSA, ILS, and RCM.
- Understanding of Lifecycle Management (LCM).
The Team:
You will be part of a dynamic Supportability/Maintainability Team of approximately 20 professionals. This team is instrumental in ensuring supportability design across FCAS and GCAP programmes, with a strong emphasis on lifecycle management. You will work closely with internal engineering teams and external stakeholders, including the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Royal Air Force (RAF), and international partners.
