Supportability Engineer (Electronics / Reliability / RAMT)

About the Role

Leonardo is seeking an Electronics Engineer with a passion for reliability and supportability to join our team in Edinburgh. This is a unique opportunity to influence the design, maintenance, and sustainment of advanced electronic systems, specifically next-generation radar programmes. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our systems are robust, supportable, and mission-ready throughout their entire lifecycle.

What You Will Do

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to enhance the supportability of next-generation radar systems.
• Conduct reliability modelling and detailed electronic failure analysis at equipment and component levels.
• Influence hardware design decisions through RAMT assessments, maintainability studies, and supportability trade-offs.
• Develop and maintain FMEA/FMECA documentation, fault analysis, and reliability predictions.
• Contribute to the development of diagnostics, testability strategies, and comprehensive through-life support solutions.
• Address real-world engineering challenges to improve product resilience from initial concept to eventual disposal.

What You Will Bring

We are interested in candidates with experience in some of the following areas:

• A background in electronics, hardware, or systems engineering.
• The ability to interpret schematics, circuit designs, and understand component-level behaviour.
• Experience in reliability, supportability, RAMT, safety, design assurance, or related disciplines.
• Exposure to FMEA/FMECA, fault analysis, or root cause investigations.
• Knowledge of defence, aerospace, complex electronics, or safety-critical systems is beneficial but not essential.
• A degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a similar field, or equivalent industry experience.

A proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn are highly valued, even if you don't possess experience in every listed area.

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, potentially including eligibility for Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
