About the Role
As a Survival Equipment Technician at RAF Valley, you will be instrumental in supporting fast jet pilot training by ensuring that vital survival and aircrew equipment is maintained to the highest standards. Your work directly contributes to flight safety, operational readiness, and overall mission success, making this a highly responsible and impactful position.
This is a hands-on role where you will develop specialist skills within a collaborative team, contributing to a function that is essential to aviation safety and national defence. You will be part of a global FTSE 100 organisation dedicated to creating a safe and secure world.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on aircrew and survival equipment.
- Ensuring all work adheres to regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
- Inspecting, testing, and certifying equipment for operational use.
- Supporting continuous improvement in team performance and compliance.
- Working collaboratively to deliver outputs safely and on time.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience in survival or life support equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work effectively within a small, close-knit team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- High levels of personal responsibility and adaptability.
- Knowledge of military engineering standards or equivalent procedures.
- Formal engineering training (RAF Trade Group 13 or equivalent) is required.
- Trade authorisations such as QSEAC or AVMEDSE are required.
- Experience in aircrew equipment fitting or specialist systems is desirable.

- Role Type: Full-time / Permanent
- Hours: 36 hours per week
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. Eligibility may be affected by place of birth, nationality, citizenship, and residency.
