Opportunity awaits for a Systems Engineering role based in Barrow-in-Furness. We are seeking a Trident II D5 Strategic Weapons System (SWS) Configuration Engineer to join our Ministry of Defence (MOD) team. This is a specialist role offering significant training and development opportunities, with flexible working options including a 4-day week or 9-day fortnight (days may vary depending on business needs).

As an integral part of the MOD team, you will be responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process for the SWS on the Dreadnought Class submarines currently under construction. This role is pivotal for SWS lifecycle management during the transition into service and will provide continued support to the National Deterrent once the submarine enters operational service.

You will be provided with bespoke SWS and PLM training to enhance your skills and ensure a thorough understanding of the technical systems, internal processes, and PLM requirements. Regular travel to UK and US sites will be required.

This role is ideally suited for individuals transitioning from the Navy with SWS experience or those with PLM configuration experience seeking to build a career within the defence sector. The successful candidate must achieve the appropriate level (DV) of security clearance.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

• SWS (Strategic Weapons System) or demonstrable experience with PLM software.
• An analytical, structured, and thorough approach to issue identification and resolution.
• Ability to take ownership of delegated tasks and drive them to successful conclusion under agreed deadlines.
• Understanding of the requirement to adhere to applicable documentation within a highly prescriptive environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Software.

Lockheed Martin UK – Strategic Systems (LMUK SS) is the single contractor providing specialist Waterfront In-Service Support to a Royal Navy Submarine Program. We provide safe, efficient, and responsive support to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
