Role Overview

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join the Aircraft Development Safety team, based in Toulouse, France. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the development of advanced military aircraft, ensuring all products comply with international safety and airworthiness standards to guarantee the highest level of operational security and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Safety Assessment & Analysis: Lead and oversee comprehensive System Safety Assessment (SSA) for military aircraft systems across all development phases. Conduct systematic examinations of system functions to identify and classify potential failure conditions. Execute advanced safety analyses, including Common-Cause Analysis (e.g., Particular Risk Analysis, Zonal Safety Analysis, Common Mode Analysis) to mitigate systemic risks.
  • Requirements Engineering & Interface Management: Define and architect complex System Safety requirements aligned with strategic safety objectives. Define and manage safety requirements at interfaces between interacting systems. Act as a key technical interface and consultant for domains such as maintenance, human factors, aircraft performance, structures, and quality to ensure seamless integration.
  • Certification & Regulatory Compliance: Drive the certification process by providing expert technical evidence and defending safety arguments before Airworthiness Authorities. Perform risk analyses required to demonstrate Continuous Airworthiness. Review and approve supplier data regarding Safety and Reliability.

Your Profile

  • Background: Strong technical foundation in Aeronautical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of aircraft systems and complex technical architectures. Experience in System Engineering, particularly with interfaces related to Safety Assessment, Airworthiness, or Certification processes. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Experience with specialized Safety Tools (e.g., Isograph FaultTree+) is a significant advantage.
  • Soft Skills: High autonomy, ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proven problem-solving skills for complex, non-routine technical issues and strategic recommendations. Commitment to integrity and professional ethics. Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).
