As a Systems Cyber Security Engineer within the Software Systems Capability function, your primary responsibility will be to integrate cyber security risk management throughout the entire product lifecycle for our products and services.

What you will be doing:

• Develop and review Systems Requirements, including cyber security requirements (technology, process etc.) across a range of marine automation systems.
• Understand and maintain expertise on statutory and technical compliance rules relevant to Marine Automation systems.
• Liaise with the RR Cyber Security Team in Friedrichshafen to share best practices and product security requirements.
• Participate in and document technical risk assessments.
• Specify and produce requirements for security measures.
• Produce reports documenting work carried out as required.
• Provide technical consultation to programmes on secure development and risk management.
• Offer support for vulnerability scanning, hardening, and addressing system vulnerabilities.
• Work effectively across multiple business functions including Software, hardware, maintenance, manufacturing, and corporate.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments.
• Communicate identified risks to business stakeholders.
• Potentially develop, implement, document, and maintain policies, procedures, associated guidelines, tools, and training materials.
• Develop the knowledge required to advise project teams, and create, search, and reuse knowledge, good practices, and procedures with guidance from experienced practitioners.

Position Qualifications and pre-requisites:

• Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Dynamically respond to evolving objectives and emerging opportunities while working in coordination with a multidisciplinary, energetic team of engineers and scientists.
• Understanding of the Secure Development Lifecycle.
• Knowledge of encryption principles and usage.
• Familiarity with security measures and security risk assessment techniques.
• Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to determine the appropriate level of analysis required.
• Working knowledge of the relevant domain.

Preferred requirements:

• Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, capable of conveying ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Ability to research application issues and products by being outward-focused and seeking solutions/information beyond the immediate area, including from suppliers, universities, customers, and related industries.
• Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment or as a sole contributor on identified projects.
• Eagerness to develop capabilities through appropriate training courses and workshops.
• Where required, the ability to train others to enhance business capability in specific areas and deliver training material.
• Professional courage to highlight areas of concern and risk regarding a product's suitability to meet its requirements safely and functionally.
• A working appreciation of associated engineering disciplines.
