// Role Specification

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Systems Engineer (d/f/m) with a focus on RF Threat Environment Simulation to support Combat Electronic Warfare Ground Support Solutions. Join an international team within the Mission Systems competence center, responsible for developing and maintaining advanced ground support systems for the A400M, Eurofighter, and Tornado platforms at our Manching site in Germany.

Our products are crucial for preparing, testing, and evaluating mission data libraries before they are uploaded to aircraft, particularly in the areas of electronic warfare, defensive aids, and electronic combat. As part of an agile team, you will contribute to developing state-of-the-art EW (Electronic Warfare) mission data validation systems for these platforms, serving international clients.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development, design, testing, qualification, support, and improvement of sub-systems throughout the entire implementation phase, including integration, verification, and validation.
  • Write essential technical documents such as specifications, functional descriptions, and test analyses.
  • Follow supplied customer requirements for system development.
  • Perform requirements definition, interface definition, and system design activities to translate customer needs into hardware and software specifications for RF Threat Simulators.
  • Support the evaluation of system performance in the lab by operating the system and test equipment to assess functional and RF performance against requirements.
  • Assist the technical lead in customer management during design and program management reviews, and with critical system development decisions.
  • Support the management of manufacturers to ensure the development, testing, and delivery of quality products that meet requirements.
  • Review system design documentation, procedures, user manuals, training materials, and other technical publications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Generate acceptance documentation, such as Acceptance Test Plans and Acceptance Test Procedures, based on system/subsystem designs.

Desired skills and qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or other related Engineering disciplines.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Proven capabilities in Systems Engineering.
  • Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: EW simulation, self-defensive systems, radar systems, RF threat modeling, and mission data systems.
  • Experience with various test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and RF signal generators.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Ability to follow test and manufacturing procedures.
  • Understanding of RF propagation modeling, wave theory, radar waveforms, antenna design, and RF chain analysis.
  • Working knowledge of engineering tools such as DOORS.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian software development and collaboration tools (Jira and Confluence).
  • Strong team player with independent working methods and a high awareness of quality.
  • Business fluent in English; German language skills are an advantage.
