As part of our Space Business unit, you will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge space systems.
In this role, you will contribute to the complete lifecycle of space system development. This includes the initial concept design, defining requirements, and progressing through integration, verification, and ultimately, mission operations. You may also be required to support the spacecraft operations team in identifying and resolving spacecraft anomalies.
While the Space Business unit is primarily located in Alton, hybrid working arrangements may be acceptable, allowing for flexibility from home or another BAE Systems site. Occasional travel will also be a requirement of this position.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in systems engineering within the space sector.
- Hands-on experience with small satellite programmes (Microsats, Cubesats, or similar), ideally spanning the full project lifecycle.
- Working knowledge of typical spacecraft subsystems, including AOCS, Comms, EPS, Payloads, OBC/Software, and OBDH.
- Experience in defining, managing, and verifying system-level requirements.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ECSS, NASA, or equivalent.
- Experience in interfacing with external clients and suppliers, and reporting project progress to both internal and external stakeholders.
- You must be willing and eligible to be submitted for security clearance, with a minimum requirement of SC.
