Babcock is seeking a dynamic Technology Manager to join our Canadian Engineering and Technology Management team, contributing significantly to our Global Technology Strategy. This role is crucial in a world where national security is paramount, supporting Canada's defence capabilities and critical assets.

Your Role

In this position, you will be instrumental in:

• Serving as an integral member of both the Canadian Engineering and Technology Management team and Babcock’s Global Technology Team.
• Contributing to the Global Technology Strategy through continuous research into technology trends relevant to Babcock’s business operations, identifying areas for in-depth investigation, and representing Canadian business operations in global strategy development.
• Cultivating relationships with Small-to-Medium Businesses (SMBs) and communities across various geographies to facilitate global interactions with selected SMB partners in support of the strategy.
• Developing compelling business cases, frequently aligned with Industrial Technological Benefits (ITB) policy objectives, in collaboration with cross-functional teams from within the Canadian business and other Babcock entities globally (UK, Australia, France, and South Africa).
• Participating in technical analysis and development, vendor selection, implementation, and prototype creation, managing the progression of concepts through product development methodologies.
• Overseeing Technology Program and Project Management, ensuring the successful delivery of assigned technology projects and programs, adhering to project management governance and financial delegations. This may involve classical waterfall schedule management or, more commonly, an agile approach.
• Performing Stakeholder Management by acting as a strategic partner, engaging regularly with functional leaders and stakeholders to discuss potential improvements and innovation within the business.
• Undertaking other assigned duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate Brings:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Engineering.
• 10 years of progressive management experience, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with executive-level stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of the technology landscape in Babcock’s primary markets. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated knowledge and experience across all four sectors (Marine, Aviation, Land, Nuclear), though deeper expertise in a subset will also be considered.
• A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated project management experience in R&D or engineering-focused applications.
• The ability to lead cross-functional matrixed team structures, including those dispersed across locations and time zones.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is considered an asset.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian ITB Program, the Defence Industrial Strategy, and the Canadian Small-Medium-Business (SMB) ecosystem is an asset.
• Eligibility for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance is required.
