TIG-MMA Welder - Hinkley Point C
Cavendish Nuclear is seeking experienced TIG-MMA Welders for both Day and Night shifts to join our team on the prestigious Hinkley Point C project. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the construction of the UK's first 3rd generation nuclear power plant and play a part in shaping a sustainable future.

The Role:
- Perform welding operations to a radiographic standard.
- Conduct equipment inspections.
- Adhere to established welding protocols and safety regulations, including fume control.
- Identify and report potential welding problems for corrective action.
- Ability to identify your own welds for quality control.
- Comply with established quality control procedures and documentation standards.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in welding operations to a radiographic standard.
- Experience welding to different materials, especially Carbon Steel and Austenitic Stainless Steel.
Qualifications:
We require TIG Welders for high integrity pipe welding and Structural (MMA) Welders for pipe supports and brackets. Suitable candidates will be required to test out to the following ISO 9606 standards:
- SWQ 02 – 2”Nb XXS Carbon Steel Pipe Butt Weld, H-L045, TIG throughout with an ER 70 S-6 wire
- SWQ 04 – 2”Nb XXS Stainless Steel Pipe Butt Weld, H-L045, TIG throughout, ER 70 S-6 wire and 316L Tig rod
- SWQ 70 – Multi Pass Fillet Weld completed on a 60 x 60 x 5mm Box Section to a 200 x 200 x 12mm plate utilizing the MMA welding Process7018 Low Hydrogen Electrodes completed in the PH position
- SWQ-22 – Multi Pass Fillet Weld completed on a 60 x 60 x 6mm Box Section to a 200 x 200 x 12mm Plate utilizing the TIG welding process, 316L Tig wire completed in the PH welding position
- SWQ 19 – Multi Pass Fillet Weld completed on a 60 x 60 x 5mm Box Section to a 200 x 200 x 12mm plate utilizing the TIG welding process, ER 70 S-6 Tig wire completed in the PH position
Suitable candidates must be able to provide evidence of:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Welding or Fabrication discipline or Welding apprenticeship or an equivalent apprenticeship in a Welding discipline.
- CCNSG Safety Passport.
