Vehicle Mechanic - Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire
At Babcock, we are creating a safe and secure world, together. As a Vehicle Mechanic at Ashchurch, near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, you will play a crucial part in supporting the maintenance and readiness of military and civilian vehicles for our defence customers.
This is a hands-on, rewarding role where your expertise in diagnostics and repairs will ensure our fleet operates safely and efficiently, making a direct impact on national defence and operational success. You will work with a variety of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in a collaborative environment that values precision, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Servicing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying military and civilian vehicles.
- Collaborating with your team to ensure operational readiness.
- Working to technical specifications and safety standards.
- Diagnosing faults and inspecting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Carrying out equipment examinations to meet production requirements.
Please note that this position involves manual work, which could include lifting, bending, using tools, or standing for extended periods. The successful candidate will also be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination.
The role is based onsite at Ashchurch, with set working hours of Monday to Thursday 7am to 4pm and Friday 7am to 12pm, totalling 37 hours per week. There is potential for overtime. A relocation package may be available, subject to eligibility.
Essential Experience:
- Experience working in a dealership or local garage.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in hydraulics.
- Strong team player with adaptability and rapport-building skills.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Service and Repair or equivalent qualification.
Security Clearance:
