About the Role

As a Vehicle Mechanic at Babcock's Donnington site, near Telford, Shropshire, you will be an integral part of a skilled team dedicated to the maintenance and repair of military vehicles and electrical equipment. Key Responsibilities

  • Service, repair, and overhaul military vehicles and associated electrical systems.
  • Generate job cards and manage material requests using ERP (SAP) systems.
  • Diagnose, inspect, and assess the condition of vehicles and related equipment.
  • Ensure the correct management and return of stores and materials.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and test certificates to current standards.

Role Details

This is a full-time, permanent position based at Donnington. The standard working hours are 37 per week, structured around a 9-day fortnight pattern. Please note that this role involves manual work, including lifting, bending, tool usage, and extended periods of standing. A targeted medical questionnaire and/or examination is a condition of employment. Relocation assistance may be available subject to eligibility.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role.
  • Proven experience with hydraulics.
  • Experience gained within a dealership or local garage setting.
  • Strong abilities in teamwork and communication.
  • Capacity to adapt and build rapport across different teams.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Service and Repair or equivalent qualification.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Eligibility for certain roles may be influenced by factors such as place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and residency status, due to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
