Vehicle Mechanic

As a Vehicle Mechanic based at Bovington, near Wareham, Dorset, you will play a key role in supporting the maintenance, repair, and operation of a diverse fleet of military vehicles, ensuring critical defence assets remain safe, reliable, and ready when needed. No two days are the same in this dynamic role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out vehicle maintenance and repair activities in line with authorised procedures and technical publications.
  • Perform vehicle preparation tasks including cleaning, washing, painting, and refuelling activities.
  • Drive, operate, and conduct road tests on vehicles for which you are qualified.
  • Identify and order service items and replacement parts to support maintenance activities.
  • Support customers and maintain safe, clean working areas while following established safe systems of work.

This onsite role at Bovington operates on a full-time basis, Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in vehicle maintenance, servicing, or repair.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and maintenance practices.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work safely, collaboratively, and to high quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Level 2 City & Guilds or Level 2 NVQ qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility may be affected by place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and residency.
