Vehicle Technician Trainer - MOD Lyneham

Babcock is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician to join their team at MOD Lyneham, near Chippenham, Wiltshire. This is a permanent, full-time role where you will play a vital part in inspiring and training the next generation of military engineers.

In this rewarding training role, you will utilise your deep technical expertise to deliver engaging instruction, develop course content, and support learners as they gain proficiency in working with a variety of military vehicles and equipment. You will assess trainee progress through both written and practical evaluations, providing constructive feedback and guiding their development through coaching and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver hands-on training to military students using modern teaching methods and pre-set course materials.
  • Maintain personal professional development and ensure training content remains current and relevant.
  • Prepare lesson plans, training aids, and assessments to support effective course delivery.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to drive continuous improvement in training delivery and outcomes.
  • Monitor and support trainee development, offering feedback and remedial training as required.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role is based at MOD Lyneham, located approximately 7 miles north-east of Chippenham and 10 miles south-west of Swindon.

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

  • Strong workshop experience with diagnostic skills in light vehicles or HGVs.
  • A minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance or Engineering (e.g., City & Guilds Part 3, Apprenticeship, or military equivalent).
  • Confident communicator with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
  • IT literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Enthusiastic and articulate, with a proactive approach to learning and teaching.
  • Willingness to achieve Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training as part of the role.

Desirable Experience:

  • Understanding of military vehicles or environments.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role. Eligibility may be affected by place of birth, nationality, citizenship, and residency.
