Weapons Engineer Instructor at HMNB Clyde

Babcock is seeking experienced Weapons Engineers to join us as instructors, supporting the Royal Navy Submarine Service at HMNB Clyde, near Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute. This is a unique opportunity to transition into a rewarding, shore-based role where you will impart your operational knowledge and experience to the next generation of engineers. No prior instructional experience is required; full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering classroom and simulator-based training, primarily focused on Astute Class submarines.
  • Providing subject matter expertise to support training design and review.
  • Supporting governance through reporting, documentation, and assurance.
  • Liaising with stakeholders and acting as a technical point of contact for training queries.
  • Maintaining safe systems of work and ensuring compliance with internal and external policies.

Role Details:

  • Location: Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute
  • Working Hours: Monday to Thursday (08:00–16:30) and Friday (08:00–13:00), totalling 37 hours per week.
  • Role Type: Full time / Permanent

Essential Experience:

  • Sound knowledge of submarine Tactical Weapons Engineering systems.
  • Experience in Weapons Handling operations.

Qualifications:

  • Officer of the quarter competent user.
