About the Role
Shape the future of defence engineering as a Welder at Babcock's Rosyth site. You will play a crucial part in manufacturing 22 tactical missile tube assemblies for the Common Missile Compartment (CMC) project, supporting both UK Successor and US Ohio Class replacement submarine programmes. This is a significant opportunity to contribute to national security while enhancing your skills in a cutting-edge environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute welding tasks to exacting standards using SMAW, GMAW-P, GTAW, SAW, and Arc Air Gouging processes.
- Safely operate welding equipment, manage plant setup, and adhere to all procedures.
- Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure project specifications are met.
- Utilize digital and thermal devices for temperature monitoring and manage pre-heating equipment.
- Perform daily machine checks, report any faults, and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
We are looking for a skilled Welder with:
- A strong understanding of weld defects and their underlying causes.
- Proficiency in performing set-up procedures for welding equipment and associated accessories.
- Experience with pulsed MIG welding, or MIG and TIG welding.
- Level 3 qualification or an indentured apprenticeship as a Welder.
Location and Working Hours
This is a full-time, permanent position based at Rosyth Dockyard, Fife. You will work 39 hours per week on a rotational shift pattern, including days and nights, with 12-hour shifts.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance. Please note that eligibility for certain roles may be influenced by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and residency status due to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
