BAE Systems Naval Ships - Female Focused Work Experience
Join BAE Systems Naval Ships at our Govan site for an immersive, one-week work experience placement. This program, running from Monday 5th to Thursday 8th October 2026, is specifically designed for female students aged 16-18.
Participants will have the opportunity to earn a Silver Industrial Cadet Award by engaging in a variety of hands-on activities within a workshop environment. You'll gain insights into BAE Systems' business, explore our apprenticeship programmes, and contribute to creating a project. The week culminates in group presentations, allowing you to share your newly acquired knowledge and skills.
What You'll Experience:
- Learn from industry experts, including apprentices and engineers, covering a range of roles from pipework to project management.
- Discover the impact of your potential work on the future of ship design.
- Explore the diverse career pathways available for school leavers within the defence sector.
- Focus on key steelwork crafts such as shipwrighting, welding, burning, and fabrication.
- Work on an individual project and receive guidance from early careers experts to identify your strengths and company opportunities.

- Age/Year Group: 16 – 18 years old, Year 12 or 13 / S5 or S6
- Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
