Workshop Instructor at MOD Lyneham

Babcock is seeking a Workshop Instructor to join their team at MOD Lyneham, near Chippenham, Wiltshire. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering hands-on engineering training to military students at the Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering. Working within a skilled team, you will help learners develop the fundamental technical skills required for their careers in the Armed Forces. Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering practical workshop training in core engineering skills such as fitting, drilling, and grinding.
  • Preparing and developing engaging teaching and learning materials to support course delivery.
  • Supporting and guiding students throughout their training to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Assessing learner progress and providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintaining a safe and effective learning environment within the workshop.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based on-site at MOD Lyneham.

Essential Experience:

  • Using measuring and calibration tools such as gauge blocks and slip gauges.
  • Manufacturing and fabricating to engineering drawings.
  • Strong craft and technical abilities.

While specific educational qualifications are not a strict requirement, demonstrable experience and a willingness to learn are highly valued.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility for certain positions may be influenced by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and residency status.
