About the Role
As an IT Project Manager at Babcock, you will play a crucial role in shaping the digital landscape that supports critical operations across defence, aerospace, and engineering sectors. You will lead complex IT projects designed to modernise systems, support thousands of users, and enable the business to deliver essential services that protect national security. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, tracking, and successful delivery of multiple IT projects simultaneously, adapting resources and timelines as required.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation in accordance with Babcock’s IT Project Management Process.
- Coordinate communications across all business areas, influencing project scope, risk, budget, and resource allocation.
- Ensure that solution designs align with Babcock’s Standard Technology Framework and facilitate long-term supportability.
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders from Group IT, business units, external vendors, and senior management.
About You
This role requires extensive experience in IT project management, particularly within complex, multi-project environments. You should have a demonstrable track record of delivering large-scale IT projects on time and within budget, utilising structured project methodologies. A strong background in managing both in-house development teams and third-party suppliers is essential. You will be comfortable managing 4-5 projects concurrently with confidence and clarity, and possess expertise in current IT technologies and lifecycle processes, including Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and software application delivery.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Certified Scrum Master, Agile certification, or equivalent.
- Professional project management qualification such as PRINCE2 or APM (or equivalent).
Preferred:
- Experience with Microsoft Project Server.
- Knowledge of DevOps, infrastructure delivery (network, server, VOIP, Citrix, Cisco), or software application project management.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance. This role is open to UK Nationals only. Please note that many positions within Babcock are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions, which may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
Working Arrangements
This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week. The role offers hybrid working arrangements, combining days on-site with days working from home. Occasional travel may be required, including some overnight stays away from home.
